Almost Perfect
Forget about a tape recorder; CD Walkman; or a portable personal radio. The Sony MZ-G750 has it all. Easy to use and you can record from almost anything on to the discs. Each disc holds hours of content depending on the recording quality you want.

Why then are Sony so mean as to leave out one sample disc and more importantly a lead that allows you to connect to your digital TV, and CD player? You do get an optical lead, but my older equipment (including Sony) doesnt have that kind of connection...

Right choice
I bought this because I wanted the radio as well as the MD player. However, I find the radio tuning to be pretty poor and the reception not too hot either. Still, the MD music quality is excellent. I use the LP2 mode which gets about 2.5 hours of music on an MD. I cant tell any difference between LP2 and normal modes.
The real trouble Ive had though is with recording. Not the MDs fault though. Im using a SoundBlaster card on my PC and its Digital Out, isnt compatible with the Sonys Digital in (even with a lead that fits both correctly. Something about TOSLINK Vs SPID standards?)..... VHS Vs Betamax again? Anyway, I ended up having to record music using analogue, even though I have digital connections for both pieces of kit. Not a problem I suppose if you have the right sort of out on a music system.

Anyway, Sony MD, yeah... brilliant.

Any help on the problem I mentioned would be gratefully received by the way.

Well worth it.
Although there are a lot of similar quality, cheaper MDs out there, if you are looking for a good quality MD-radio this is the best. The sound quality is excellent, even on MDLP and the radio although small, manages a strong signal better than most others. MZ-G750 is very simple to use although this does have some drawbacks. It does have its flaws, but none to advise against buying it. The functions like display and play mode will reset themselves if you turn it off or use certain other options. This isnt really a problem unless you are editing the discs. The radio is contained in the remote which is a bit annoying if you dont want the excess wire and if you do use the remote, you cant turn the minidisc function on. The earphones you get with it are good quality but awkward design. I suggest buying some in-ear bass earphones (around £17.50), its worth the investment. Although it doesnt come with the analog wire (which rightly annoys people with older equipment), sony have cunningly fitted an optical port in the back of their PS2 for digital recording and most people have an optical port somewhere around the house. In any case, the analog wire is only £5.
It seems like one big rant but these are only very minor irritations and are worth putting up with for the quality of the player.
